Post weber baby-q

hi all, i just thought i'd share my opinion on the portable weber baby-q barbecue as seen on the telly. we were looking for a small bbq that we could also use as an oven.
this thing is quite simply perfect! a lot of thought has gone into the design of this little gem and it only uses about 1/5th of the gas a standard barbeque uses. it cooks a perfect roast chook in about 11/2 hrs. no fat drips on the burner so very little smoke to contend with
the perfect campanion to the cobb cooker, we don't need to cook inside our van anymore:-)

Does it have a hot plate that you could for instance fry an egg or do some fried onions? We are considering one for our van

Yes it does have a hot plate - it something that you buy as an extra

Default weber q

we were wondering if you carry another gas bottle for the baby q or just use the ones for the van? and if you are using a seperate bottle where do you carry it. have been reading about not putting it in the car since it can be dangerous.

Milo,

We have a Weber as well. Our plumber installed a bayonet fitting outside the van and I purchased a different hose connection so we don't have to worry about carrying an extra bottle.

One of the best purchases we have made for the van.

We also have a bayonet fitted for using the BBQ, but still carry an ordinary fitting so we can take the Barbie on days trips if needed or to social gathering. Use the gas bottle from the van, no need to carry an extra.

Thumbs up Baby Q

Better late than never, but we use the existing gas outlet but getting longer hose and also getting a 12volt light conection put in at the front of the van for when we use the baby q so we have light. we bought a breakfast plate which is designed to drain off all the fat but we bought one of those bbq mates you put on the plate and nothing sticks to it and you just wash it in the sink and re use over and over again, you just cut it to size, really good for marinated meats, you just use paper towel and wipe off and go again, best bbq we ever bought and you can buy cook book as well.

Did roast pork and potatos couple of nights ago. 10 mins flat out after the warm up and then 11/2 hours to cook through. Best pork roast we've ever had. Wont be using the house oven anymore!
Crackling was sensational !!!!!!

Smile Webber Q

Good to hear all the positives about the Webber as we have just purchased one! We will be giving it a go on our forthcoming trip south in two weeks time from Gosford to the Murray, then to the Great Ocean Road and back home along the coast, being away for just over four weeks.
